Bulk Email Policy
UCE/SPAM Policy and Compliance As an
online service that broadcasts email reminders of valuable
supermarket savings, ValuPage is very sensitive to issues
regarding unwanted emails and SPAM. We are very concerned if
you, or someone you represent, received an unwanted email from
us. We abide by common principles of email protocol and
provide (and honor) an industry-leading "double opt-in" (or
Confirmed Opt-in) policy. See
EmailPolicy below
for a definition of our Confirmed Opt-in technology. We
previously used an industry-standard known generally as
"opt-in". However, due to a general disregard for email
etiquette by some unscrupulous marketing firms (spam houses),
we have decided to take proactive measures to ensure ValuPage
email is not considered SPAM. In addition to our Confirmed
Opt-in policy, we also employ several traditional
newsletter-style functions. See complete list of functions
below.
Our Pledge to You We will never share
your email address with another subscription provider or third
party vendor. We will never share your uniquely identifiable
information with any company.
Email/User Maintenance Functions We
take the issue of unwanted email seriously and provide many
powerful tools within our technology to help assure that you
only get the subscriptions you want. These tools include:
Confirmed Opt-in, Opt-out Link, Protected Subscription,
Opt-out protection, and Bounce Processing.
Confirmed Opt-in = We ensure an
email subscription is truly desired After a
user registers on the ValuPage site (or signs up for any
Savings Email for additional supermarkets) a confirmation
email is sent out with a link to the ValuPage site. This
process insures that the email address that was registered
on our site is owned by the person who submitted it. The
link is included with verbiage that indicates, "no bulk
email will be sent without confirming the subscription." If
the link is not clicked/followed, the email address will not
be a part of our subscription list. If the link is
clicked/followed, we will log this information, subscribe
the email address, and consider the owner of that email
address our customer, with the rights and privileges
attached.
Opt-Out Link = We provide an easy and efficient
process to remove an email address from our subscription
list Every email we send includes the option
(via a link) for a subscriber to remove himself from the
ValuPage list in question. It's our policy to immediately
remove the email address from our subscription list. In
addition to removing himself from just that one
subscription, there is also the option to remove the email
address from all of ValuPage's various supermarket lists.
Protected Subscription = We make it difficult for
hackers to erroneously add email addresses
After an email address is registered (whether
it has been confirmed or not), the system creates a unique
password for that email address. In order to add another
subscription to that email address, this unique password is
required. Because we have found the majority of our
customers wish a mailer from only one or two supermarkets,
we make it difficult to mistakenly enter an email address or
for hackers to quickly add many subscriptions. This protects
the subscriber and enforces our strong commitment to giving
our ValuPage Email subscribers only what they want.
Opt-out Protection = We make it difficult to
re-subscribe accidentally once opted-out When
an email address is removed, our system tracks/records this
and prevents this email address from being accidentally
re-added to the subscriber list. Users can re-subscribe if
desired, but the process is password protected.
Bounce Processing = We maintain our lists for
accuracy When an email address has an
overflowing mail in-box or has been removed from an Internet
Service Provider (ISP), we make sure to process the server
responses immediately.
SPAM and Policy Abuse Despite all of
these precautions and policies, the possibility remains that a
ValuPage Savings Email is received as un-welcomed solicitation
or unwanted email by one of our customers. This may be due to
a misunderstanding on our part, or it may be due to our
customers misunderstanding of what they were signing up for.
If you feel we have not followed our policies and
procedures regarding email, we strongly encourage you to
contact our postmaster/helpdesk staff at abuse@ValuPage.com.
Please make the subject line of the email you are sending
starts with the word "ABUSE" so we will know you have read
this page. We would like the opportunity to research the
perceived infraction and determine its validity. We pledge to
take appropriate action. On the other hand, if you have an
issue with our procedures or with the way we have handled any
of your requests, or you simply have a suggestion on how we
might do it better; click here to submit a detailed report.
